A new book written by FCN researcher Ray Galvin and his Cambridge University colleague Minna Sunikka-Blank is due to be released in August 2013.

Short description:

Based on empirical research over several years in Germany and comparable EU countries, the book examines how German policy on thermal retrofits of existing homes supports but also inhibits the uptake of retrofit measures that are needed to reach ambitious energy and CO2 reduction goals. It uses an interdisciplinary approach based on the authors’ expertise in engineering, architecture, social psychology, micro-economics and policy studies, and makes novel suggestions as to how Germany could increase the rate of energy and CO2 savings by developing a more pragmatic and less ideological approach to retrofitting.

The book is entitled, "A Critical Appraisal of Germany’s Thermal Retrofit Policy: Turning Down the Heat", and may be ordered via Amazon.
