Further Information

As part of Current Economics II, the Chair of Energy System Economics offers a seminar focusing on the analysis of one's own energy consumption.

Background: Many consumers know about current events in the energy industry from the media, but what these mean for their own consumption decisions is far less known. Most students do not know the answer to the following questions: How much is my own electricity consumption? What do I pay for one kWh? Which of my electrical devices are main consumers? Is there a potential for optimization in my consumption behavior or in my choice of electricity tariff? These are some of the questions that will be addressed in this module.

Content: Analysis of the own electricity consumption in a sense of energy consulting. In the first part of the course, the students will be provided measuring devices to determine the respective consumption and to form individual load profiles. The analysis of specific load profiles helps the students to draw conclusions about their own electricity consumption in the further progress of the teaching units. Furthermore, the typical challenges of energy consulting are explored and the significance of environmental factors for energy consumption is analyzed.

Please note that this course is offered in german language only.
